Description Image Geographic and Cultural Origin
Rosso di Montalcino DOC is produced exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso grapes cultivated within the boundaries of Montalcino. This denomination was introduced in 1983 to allow a more immediate expression of the Sangiovese grape, offering a fresh and accessible alternative to Brunello. At La Corte dei Venti, vineyards are located in the sunniest southeast zone, known for red soils and constant wind exposure, between Sant’Angelo and Castelnuovo dell’Abate.

Technique and Artisanal Craftsmanship
Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and aged for at least 12 months in a mix of tonneaux, barriques, and large oak casks, followed by a minimum of 4 months in bottle. The yield is set at 9 tons per hectare, with a wine conversion rate not exceeding 70%. This process captures freshness, fruit precision, and elegance, allowing the wine to be enjoyed from the year following harvest.

Organoleptic and Nutritional Characteristics
Bright ruby red in color, with aromas of fresh cherry, red currant, and marasca. The palate is dry, vibrant, and well-structured, showing refined tannins and a persistent, savory finish. Alcohol content is at least 12%.

Culinary Use
Versatile at the table, this Rosso pairs beautifully with pasta dishes featuring meat sauces, roast poultry, mushroom-based recipes, and traditional Tuscan fare. A perfect choice for casual and refined dining alike.
Producers Image Producer
La Corte dei Venti is a family-owned estate rooted in Montalcino’s winemaking tradition since 1943. Today, it is led by Clara Monaci, who carries forward the legacy of the Pieri family. The winery was founded when part of the historic Piancornello property was passed down to the new generation. Located in the southeast of Montalcino, it benefits from a unique climate shaped by constant sea breezes.

Territory
The estate spans 5 hectares of vineyards, including 2.8 dedicated to Brunello. The vineyards are situated on hilly terrain rich in iron-limestone clay and minerals. This zone, known for its “terre rosse” (red soils), is especially favorable for Sangiovese, thanks to excellent sunlight and the protective influence of Mediterranean winds, which contribute to healthy vine growth and optimal grape ripening.

Sustainability Image La Corte dei Venti practices sustainable viticulture with a strong commitment to environmental preservation. All vineyard work is manual, and the constant airflow in the region allows for minimal intervention, reducing the need for chemical treatments. The winery uses natural temperature and humidity control during vinification and aging. Their traditional and respectful approach results in wines that are both ecologically responsible and authentically expressive of the Montalcino terroir.
