Description Image GEOGRAPHIC AND CULTURAL ORIGIN

Sliced Summer Truffles come from the heart of Umbria’s Alta Valle del Tevere, in the province of Città di Castello — a territory renowned for its centuries-old truffle tradition. Nestled among oak and hazelnut groves, this region is one of Italy’s richest ecosystems for wild truffle growth. The porous, mineral-rich soil and temperate climate create ideal conditions for Tuber aestivum Vitt., better known as Summer Truffle, which has long been treasured by local hunters and their trained dogs.

TECHNIQUE AND ARTISANAL CRAFTSMANSHIP

Produced by Geofoods — a family-run company with over 40 years of expertise in truffle processing — these sliced truffles are made using only four essential ingredients: truffle, truffle juice, water, and salt. Carefully selected and thinly sliced, the truffles are preserved in their own juice to retain aroma and texture. In some versions, they are also preserved in pure extra virgin olive oil, enhancing their richness and extending shelf life. Geofoods' methods combine artisanal precision with modern food safety standards, ensuring a clean label and a product free from additives or artificial aromas. Certified BRC, IFS, and HALAL, and part of the “TrackIT Blockchain” initiative, the entire supply chain is traceable and transparent.

ORGANOLEPTIC AND NUTRITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Sliced Summer Truffles have a refined earthy aroma and delicate nutty undertones, with a firm yet tender bite. Their flavor is balanced, subtle, and elegant — ideal for enhancing rather than overpowering a dish. Naturally low in fat and calories, they offer a gourmet touch without heaviness, making them suitable for both everyday meals and fine-dining applications.

CULINARY USE

Highly versatile, Sliced Summer Truffles are best used as a finishing ingredient or gently warmed to release their full aroma. They are perfect over pasta, risotto, grilled meats, fish, or eggs. Layer them on gourmet pizzas or fold them into mashed potatoes or creamy sauces for an elevated experience. The accompanying truffle juice can also be used to enrich broths or vinaigrettes. A ready-to-use delicacy that brings immediate sophistication to any dish.

TERRITORY

Città di Castello lies in the Umbrian Alta Valle del Tevere — a Renaissance town surrounded by forests that produce Italy’s most renowned truffles. With its truffle fair tradition spanning over four decades, the area is famous for producing one-third of all Italian truffles. The local lifestyle reflects a deep relationship with nature, where truffle hunting is not only a culinary act but a cultural ritual passed down through generations. The region’s microclimate and soil composition make it ideal for wild truffle growth — including the elusive White Truffle, one of the world’s most sought-after ingredients.

Sustainability Image Geofoods adheres to rigorous sustainability standards by sourcing wild truffles responsibly and promoting biodiversity in truffle-rich forests. Their commitment to environmental stewardship includes the use of eco-conscious harvesting methods that protect the forest ecosystem, and participation in "TrackIT Blockchain" to ensure traceability and authenticity across the entire supply chain. Their operations support a rural economy built on tradition, sustainability, and deep ecological respect.
