Description Image GEOGRAPHIC AND CULTURAL ORIGIN

Lo STORICO extra virgin olive oil is certified PDO Umbria Colli Assisi Spoleto, made from Moraiolo, Frantoio, and other olive varieties grown on sun-drenched slopes between the medieval villages of Trevi and Campello sul Clitunno.
The Assisi-Spoleto Olive Belt has been recognized by the FAO as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) — the first Italian territory to receive this honor — highlighting its cultural and environmental significance.

TECHNIQUE AND ARTISANAL CRAFTSMANSHIP

Produced solely by mechanical means, this superior-category extra virgin olive oil preserves the integrity and authenticity of the olives. The traditional, artisanal methods used ensure the highest quality standards, from cultivation to pressing, reflecting Terre Francescane’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

ORGANOLEPTIC AND NUTRITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Lo STORICO is characterized by a bold and fruity flavor, with subtle bitterness and pungency, particularly typical of the Moraiolo variety.
Rich in polyphenols, vitamin E, and other natural antioxidants, it offers both exceptional taste and valuable nutritional benefits. Its very low acidity is a hallmark of purity and quality.

CULINARY USE

Ideal with red meats, bruschetta, legume-based soups, and grilled vegetables, this oil enhances both traditional dishes and modern gourmet cuisine. Its aromatic intensity makes it perfect for raw use and finishing touches.
Producers Image PRODUCERS

For over 400 years, Terre Francescane has cultivated olives on the rugged hills of Umbria.
Founded in 1639, as evidenced by a carved stone in the original olive mill, the Gradassi family has passed down its olive-growing tradition for generations.
Extra virgin olive oil is not just a product — it’s a way of life: its green hue colors our days, its aroma greets our mornings, and its flavor defines our table.

Today, Terre Francescane stands as a symbol of heritage, excellence, and artisanal devotion.
It supplies Michelin-starred restaurants and renowned chefs such as Carlo Cracco, Antonino Cannavacciuolo, and Jason Atherton, and features in niche markets such as Peck, Eataly, and international duty-free stores.

TERRITORY

Umbria, known as the Green Heart of Italy, is a region of ancient cities, castles, and deeply rooted culinary traditions.
Its cuisine is known for being simple yet refined, often influenced by monastic cooking methods such as baking on hot stones, open-fire roasting, and lake fish smoking.
With ingredients like black truffle and golden-green olive oil, Umbrian food offers an experience of sensory richness and historical depth.

Although Umbria represents only 2.5% of Italy’s total olive oil production, its oils consistently win national and international awards. It is also one of the few regions where the entire olive-growing area is classified PDO — a mark of guaranteed origin, method, and excellence.

Sustainability Image Unlike industrial-scale producers in countries like Spain, Italy — and especially Umbria — maintains a traditional, sustainable cultivation model that uses fewer chemicals and respects the land.
Italy also boasts the world’s richest olive biodiversity, with over 500 olive cultivars, contributing to a wide spectrum of flavors and textures.
Terre Francescane embodies this philosophy, combining heritage and sustainability through short supply chains, clean energy, and social responsibility.

The company generates 70% of its energy in-house from renewable sources, and since 2021, it has supported the Il Serafico di Assisi charity, a commitment that further expresses its respect for people, place, and purpose.
