Description

Tenuta Mara is a biodynamic wine estate in Romagna, founded by Giordano Emendatori and now led by his daughter, Elena Emendatori. Since its first vintage in 2011, the estate has become a reference point for natural winemaking, guided by vineyard and cellar manager Leonardo Pironi. Every vineyard and bottle reflects a holistic, artisanal approach rooted in respect for nature, cosmic rhythms, and the unique Conca Valley terroir. Located between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea in San Clemente, the 11-hectare estate is planted primarily with Sangiovese on clay-limestone, marine-sedimentary soils. Vineyards benefit from optimal sunlight, airflow, and biodiversity, while green manuring with diverse legume, grass, and cruciferous varieties enriches the soil naturally. Fully biodynamic, Tenuta Mara employs manual vineyard work, lunar and planetary calendar practices, and minimal-intervention winemaking including amphora fermentation, gravity-fed systems, and unfiltered aging. More than a winery, Tenuta Mara is a living ecosystem and open-air art space where nature, art, and sustainable viticulture converge, producing wines that are authentic, expressive, and deeply connected to their land.
